Caveau du Mont, Corcelles-près-Payerne

A few minutes from Payerne, between Yverdon-les-Bains and Fribourg, Corcelles-près-Payerne welcomes Swiss wine connoisseurs in the Caveau communal du Mont. Cultivated in Lavaux, a UNESCO world heritage site, the grapes of the Corcelles vineyards produce mineral wines redolent of the terroir.

Since the occupation of Vaud by the Bernese bailiffs in the 16th century, the Payerne region has been owned by the UNESCO-listed Lavaux vineyards. This historical context explains why Corcelles-près-Payerne produces pleasant, characterful wines even though there are no grapes on its land.

Every Friday, between 5 and 8 p.m., the Caveau communal du Mont opens its doors to Swiss wine enthusiasts and visitors looking for an atmosphere. Its stone walls, vaulted ceiling and round tables are typical of the warm ambiance of the Vaudois wine cellars.

Fruity or dry white wines – including the chasselas variety, the star of the Vaudois vineyards – pinot noir, gamaret-garanoir and Plant Robert are available for tasting and for purchase.
